Looking for an off-the-beaten-path ride in the Carpathians? This cycling route takes you from Predeal to Azuga, threading through quiet forest tracks and gravel paths almost the whole way. Predeal, one of Romania’s most popular mountain resorts, is your high-altitude starting point (over 1,000 meters up!). Right out of town, you’ll leave the bustle behind as you hit woodland trails and climb up to around 1,400 meters—the highest point on your journey.

The route is pretty rugged: most surfaces are unpaved, with plenty of dirt and gravel under your tires, so a mountain or gravel bike is definitely the way to go. Even though it’s just under 9 km, you’ll rack up some hefty climbs and fast descents, with views of the Prahova Valley sneaking through the trees.

Finish up in Azuga, a quieter ski town with a laid-back vibe—perfect for a celebratory snack. Short but adventurous, this route is all about the mountain experience!
