This ride takes you from the heart of Budapest’s Újpest (District IV) all the way down to the vibrant neighborhood of Újbuda—a classic north-to-south traverse across the city. Starting in Újpest, you’ll notice a mix of residential zones and historic factory buildings; this area was once the industrial hub of Budapest.

Your 17 km journey is a pleasantly urban affair, primarily on proper cycleways (about two-thirds of the time), which means you’ll cruise past traffic jams and see plenty of city life. Most surfaces are smooth asphalt, with just a touch of old-school paving stones along the way to keep things interesting. With gentle rolling hills (about 140 meters of climbing), it’s friendly for most riders.

As you approach Újbuda, the scenery shifts to riverside parks, modern offices, cafés, and the bustle of university students. Újbuda is known for its laid-back vibe and lively nightlife—a great reward after your ride! All in all, this is a perfect cross-town route for exploring Budapest on two wheels.
