Start in downtown Portland and ride to the top of the hill in the north part of town. The climb is steep and mostly flat. There is a little descent after the top, but the climb is mostly flat. After that, the route gently descends to the east, passing a pond on the way down. The route is flat and mostly downhill for the last section of the ride.
