Nach Bergen

You start at Restaurant Zorgeloos. From here, you hop on your bike for a loop through Bergen, Schoorl, and Egmond aan Zee, starting from Castricum. Via Egmond aan Zee, you ride through a vast polder landscape of meadows and ditches. Then you cycle into the Schoorl Dunes. The dunes are among the widest and highest in the Netherlands. The forest was planted in the nineteenth century because the residents of nearby Schoorl wanted to prevent their village from disappearing under the drifting sand. In charming Schoorl, you can then enjoy a cup of coffee at one of the terraces at the foot of the Klimduin. A little later, you cycle past the Bergerbos with its beautiful old deciduous trees and avenues. In the artists' village of Bergen, you will see several stately old buildings. You cycle back via Alkmaar.
