Baiului & Piatra Mare

Long mtb route traversing Baiului and Piatra Mare mountains. At 50 km mark you start the 3 hour hike-a-bike trail to Piatra Mare mountain hut, 1630 m elevation, on hiking trail marked with yellow triangle symbol. It's a very hard climb with your bike on your back, very steep. It's also bear territory so be loud all the time. Do not take this climb if you don't have enough daylight or the weather is bad. The trail is old and poorly maintained and also the hiking symbol is rare and old. You can very easy get lost, even having this gps track.  

Alternatively at 50 km mark, instead of climbing to Piatra Mare hut, continue your descent to Sacele village and then Brasov city. This way you go around the mountain instead over it but you loose the pleasure of descending the Drumul Familiar trail, from Piatra Mare hut to Timisu de Jos village. It's a really nice trail for enduro-mtb. From Timisu de Jos you have 40 km of asphalt, back to your starting point in Sinaia.
