Using the Ilmtalweg, starting in Ilmenau and finishing in Weimar at the train station. There is only a little ascent on this route, the road is mostly asphalt, mostly separate from car roads. In towns/villages you need to go on main roads, but they're empty most of the time anyway.

Easy route with slight elevation, on an old train track that is now a bike path (professionally made with high quality asphalt). You have to go through the castle park in Gehren because of construction work on Schloßallee.
