I attempted this route on my hybrid bike, which I intend to tour on in the summer. It has fairly rugged tyres, but not mountain bike tyres. I would recommend this route for its often scenic nature, in particular the long stretches of canal locks. However there are drawbacks.

A nice varied route, with some tough uphill parts, and rewarding descents. The opening stretch isn't fantastic (residential) but when cycling the clent hills half of the loop the views are fantastic. The ride ends through Bournville, which is always very aesthetically pleasing. A good cycle.
