Mountains, lakes, and long gravel climbs — this e-MTB classic traverses Austria’s Salzkammergut. Ride it in stages between lake towns like Gmunden, Bad Ischl, St. Wolfgang, and Hallstatt, linking gems such as Traunsee, Wolfgangsee, Attersee, Mondsee, and Hallstätter See.

Terrain is mostly gravel and forest roads with quiet tarmac connectors, plus the odd path and short busier stretch near towns. It’s a big one: the full collection adds up to roughly 19,500 m of climbing, so expect steady alpine ascents and fast, grin-inducing descents.

Start anywhere and go point-to-point or build your own loop. Valley hubs have trains, cafés, bike shops, and plenty of recharge options. Swim stops and photo breaks practically plan themselves.

Best season: late spring to autumn. Bring a GPS for the remote bits and pack for changeable mountain weather. Bike choice: e-MTB or MTB; confident gravel riders can cherry‑pick the smoother stages.
