Tagesausflug mit dem Fahrrad von West Saint Paul nach Minneapolis

Use caution on Grand Av as traffic is merging onto it from 35E.

Streets in St. Paul that were chosen had lights for crossing busy intersections. 

You have the option of going up Ramsey to Summit if you enjoy a steep challenge. 

Take St. Clair west to Fairview. Take a right on Fairview and head north to Summit in the bike lane. Take a left onto Summit, and head west in the bike lane to East River Pkwy. Turn right onto Mississippi River Blvd and take that up the hill to where the road forks. Veer to the left, and cross the street to get to  Exeter.  Take a quick left onto Otis. Take Otis as it winds downhill to Marshall.  (Note: there are speed bumps but they are bike-friendly). Take a left onto Marshall and follow it over the bridge. Once on the west side of the bridge, take a right onto W River Pkwy.  Continue on W River Pkwy until you reach 11th Avenue, where you take a left and take the bikelane to 5th St (Just past the Metrodome).  Take a right onto 5th St. (note, 5th St does not have a bike lane but the traffic is usually navigable).

Take Otto to Chatsworth. Take a right onto Chatsworth and take that to Bayard Ave. 3.  Take a left onto Bayard Ave for 1 block and look for a path to the left, which will lead you over a bridge ove 35. 4.  Once over the bridge, take a left and head south alongside 35. This road will curve to the right, Race Street.  It will jut right quickly onto Albion, and then take a quick left onto Lexington. 5.  Take a right onto Montreal Ave, then a rightonto Hamline, and a right onto Edgecumbe Rd. 6.  Take Edgecumbe Rd to Highland Pkwy and take that west to Mississippi River Blvd. 7.  Take Mississippi River Blvd north until you reach the Marshall/Lake Bridge.  Continue biking under the bridge, then take the first right after the bridge to back track up to Marhshall Ave. Take a right to head west across the bridge.  Once on the west side of the bridge, take a right onto W River Pkwy. Continue on W River Pkwy until you reach 11th Avenue, where you take a left and take the bikelane to 5th St (Just past the Metrodome).  Take a right onto 5th St, bike past the Metrodome onward to your destination.

Use caution accessing Grand Ave.  Ramsey is a shortcut to Summit Av but it involves a steep climb. 

Take Jefferson west to Grigg St, and take a right.  Follow Griggs, which will turn into Fairmount Ave as it veers left.  Go right onto Syndicate (lower traffic than Hamline) and go left onto Lincoln.  Take a right onto Hamline to cross Grand at the light to get to Summit Ave.  Take a left on Summit and use the bike lane all the way to Mississippi River Blvd.  Sharp right on either the bike path on the West side of the Blvd or stay on the road.  At the top of the hill, veer left at the fork in the road, and cross Missippi River Blvd to get to Exeter Pl.  Take a quick right onto Otis Ave, a low traffic residential road which winds downhill to Marshall.  (Note: Otis has speed bumps which should be fine to roll over on your bike.)  Take a left onto Marshall, go over the bridge and take a right onto W. River Pkwy.  Continue north on W. River Pkwy either on the bike path (on the West side of the street) or on the road.  Enter onto the Midtown Greenway at 27th St.  Take the Midtown Greenway until the Nicollet exit which is a sharp right. (note: when crossing Hiawatha, use the bike bridge to your right).  At the top of the Nicollet exit, take a left, and bike North on Nicollet until 24th Street.  Take a right and bike 3 blocks to the Theater.

Take Jefferson west to Fairview and take a right.  Take the Fairview bike lane to Marshall Ave, and take a left onto Marshall's bike lane.  Continue west on Marshall, cross the Marshall/Lake bridge.  Once on the west side of the bridge, take a right onto West River Pkwy.  You can either bike on the road on West River Pkwy or use the bike/pedestrian path on the east side of the street.  Continue north on West River Pkwy until you reach 11th Avenue.  Take a left onto 11th Avenue which has a bike lane.  Take a right onto 5th St (note: there is not a bike lane on 5th St but traffic should be manageable and it's only a few blocks to Portland)  Take a left onto Portland which has a bike lane.  Take a right onto 9th St which has a bike lane.  At Nicollet Mall, walk your bike 1 bock to the left to reach US Bancorp (if it is not between 6am and 6pm, you may ride your bike on Nicollet Mall).
