Westlake OH to Milan OH

The ride today was dry, but in slightly chilly overcast weather. Like much of the riding over the last few days along Lake Erie, we ride next to the lake, but we can’t see it; just occasionally when there’s a public park or municipal building. There are homes continuously between the road and the coast. So many are big mansions that have extensive grassy areas of multiple acres in front of the homes, which stand relatively close to the water. Far too many look like McMansions and are eyesores. It seems unbelievable how many obviously affluent people there are here.

Generally, the roads were excellent today, often with good shoulder. The principal exception was when we entered Vermillion from Lorain. For a few miles, the four-lane road had narrow lanes and zero shoulder. Also, the pavement was terrible along the edge. Fortunately, it eventually got better.
