Pieve Torina Circuit

A great route taking you to the Marche/Umbria borders in quiet countryside. The car journey from Casa Carotondo to Pieve Torina takes 35-40 mins. Park in the town and then take the road SP96 from Pieve Torina heading in the direction of Colfiorito. This road is signposted and is in the southerly part of the town near a church. Cycle about 10 km down the road until you find the turn off to Monte Cavallo (12km) and Selvapiana (5km). The road is signposted. There is also a small building at the turn-off. The road becomes gravel at this point but in the summer 2014 was in a good condition. It is not horrendously steep. At the top you are rewarded with wonderful views over the Colfiorito plain. You have reached the high point when you pass a tall mast to your right. The road will drop down to Selvapiana where it becomes asphalt. Continue on to Collattoni following the road in the direction of Monte Cavallo. After Collatoni the downhill becomes very steep 17% gradient at one point. It goes through a steep valley and only flattens out at Pie' del Sasso. Keep going and you will meet up with the SP209 - it is a further 3 km back to Pieve Torina.
