The World Tour nations clash in Beijing, home to over 21 million potential spectators. Both start and finish are situated at the most famous landmark of the city, the Tiananmen Square. In a northern direction, the route brings the riders towards the 2008 Olympic Park and, after traversing the area, in the direction of the Great Wall of China. </div>

After 45 kilometers the first moderately hilly section livens up an until now completely flat and straightforward route. Never actually reaching the wall, the peloton heads south towards the next hilly section at Dahuichangcun. After the descent of Dahuichangcun Road, 85 kilometers from the finish line, the profile is flat as a pancake.</div>

Finishing the circle around Beijing, past Longtan Theme Park and the Temple of Heaven, the riders arrive back at Tiananmen Square after 238 kilometers. The ‘Square of Heavenly Peace’, as it would translate to English, will be the decor of the mass sprint in front of the National Museum of China and The Great Hall of the People.</div>
