Über diese Route

A mostly off road route from Monmouth into the Wye Valley to the Village of Redbrook (where a couple of good cycle friendly pubs exist)  and back, utilising the old disused railway line and an Old Restricted Byway. Best to do the route anti clockwaise, old railway to Redbrook and then upper track back.

Notes:

  • There is a Sub way for crossig the A40 from town.
  • Make sure to turn off the upper railway  onto the lower one once you enter the woods just beyond Wyesham (the upper one dead ends at the sealed railway tunnel), the turning is easy to miss, have marked with a POI.
  • The return route is a steep hill climb on tarmac/stone track, the down hill is on unsurfaced stone track, with a boulder/rough section, the route can be done in reverse but is much more fun this way around.
  • You can extend the ride along the old Railway line to Whitebrook, which you get onto just left after coming over the old railway bridge in Redbrook.
