"This well-signed circular route around the Yorkshire Wolds was developed by Sustrans and has been designed (and signposted) to be cycled either in a clockwise or anti-clockwise direction. Using predominantly minor roads, it takes in the ever changing scenery of the Wolds, from the dramatic cliffs at Bempton, to the rolling hills of Sledmere and the medieval town of Beverley – this route has it all!
In total the route is 146 miles long, which includes two optional short “there-and-back” detours to Hunmanby Gap and the RSPB centre at Bempton Cliffs. It is predominantly on minor country lanes but does include one “off-road” non-tarmac section on day 2 at Sober Hill, north-east of North Newbald - totalling almost 2 miles. This is unlikely to suit road bikes with skinny tyres, but a wider tyred touring / hybrid bike should be ok, depending on rider and conditions. So, riders of some road bikes may opt to walk this section or take a slightly longer detour!"
