Bikepacking from Nauders to Verona

Set out from the alpine village of Nauders, perched close to the Austrian-Italian border, and pedal your way south toward the romance of Verona. This 281 km ride is packed with gorgeous mountain scenery and a mix of cycleways and quiet roads—ideal for soaking in views without battling heavy traffic. You’ll tackle a solid climb out of Nauders (the highest point on the route nudges up to 1,553 meters), but after cresting the Alps, the ride rewards you with fragrant valleys and long, winding descents as you make your way into Italy.

The route is super cyclist-friendly, with over 90% paved surfaces and the majority of the ride following dedicated cycle paths. You’ll drop nearly twice as much as you ascend, gliding down into the lush Po Valley before finally rolling into Verona, famed for its Roman arena and Shakespearean romance. Pack some strudel for the upper Alps, and save room for gelato when you reach Romeo and Juliet’s hometown!
