Bikepacking from Bolzano to Verona

This scenic cycling route carries you from the vibrant city of Bolzano, nestled in the heart of South Tyrol, all the way down to romantic Verona. Starting in Bolzano—a city known for its blend of Italian and Austrian culture, as well as amazing mountain views—you’ll cruise mostly along dedicated cycleways, enjoying a gentle descent through the Adige Valley.

The ride covers about 167 km and is mostly paved, making for a smooth journey. There’s just under 770 meters of ascent but more downhill (almost 1,000 meters in descent!), so it’s friendlier on your legs than you might expect for the distance. As you approach Verona, home of Romeo and Juliet, you’ll notice the landscape shift from Alpine to lush vineyards and historic towns.

Plan for a full day on the bike, with plenty of spots to pause in small villages or grab a coffee along the way. Once you roll into Verona, make sure to reward yourself by exploring its ancient Roman arena and lively piazzas!
