Cycling day trip from Tarvisio to Amaro

This ride takes you from the alpine town of Tarvisio to the inviting village of Amaro, winding through about 58 km of mostly smooth, car-free cycleways and lush Friulian scenery. Tarvisio, tucked right at the crossroads of Italy, Austria, and Slovenia, is famous for its cozy mountain atmosphere and easy access to the Julian Alps.

The route is a real treat for cycling fans: you’ll have some climbing (about 920 meters up) but even more descending—over 1,300 meters! That means you’ll get plenty of breezy downhill stretches after your initial effort. The path mostly sticks to well-paved, dedicated cycle tracks, weaving you through tunnels of greenery, past old railway bridges, and alongside sparkling rivers. There's a brief taste of quiet roads and a couple of short sections on peaceful rural paths.
