By bicycle from Medulin to Pula

Ready for a laid-back ride along the Istrian coast? This route takes you from the lively seaside town of Medulin—famous for its beaches and Roman history—through the countryside to Pula, a city dominated by its incredible Roman amphitheater.

It's just under 17 km (so quite beginner-friendly), and you’ll get a bit of a workout with about 157 meters of climbing—but nothing too tough! Most of your journey will be on quiet country roads and well-paved surfaces, though be ready for occasional stretches of gravel and unpaved track (just enough to keep things interesting). You’ll pass through lovely rural scenery: think olive groves, old stone houses, and sweeping views toward the sea.

Pula awaits at the end, where you can reward yourself with gelato or a stroll through its ancient streets. Don’t miss the iconic Arena—one of the best-preserved Roman amphitheaters in the world!

Tip: There’s limited dedicated cycleway, so keep an eye out for occasional cars, but overall, this is a relaxed and scenic ride between two of Istria's gems.
