Cycling day trip from Melide to Santiago de Compostela

This ride takes you from the heart of Melide—famous for its pulpo a la gallega (octopus!)—to the iconic cathedral city of Santiago de Compostela. The route covers just under 65 km, mostly on quiet roads that roll through classic Galician countryside: think lush green hills, stone villages, and tons of rural charm.

There's a fair bit of climbing (over 1200 meters of ascent!), but happily, there’s even more descending as you approach Santiago. Surfaces are almost all paved, mostly asphalt, so it’s smooth sailing for road bikes. Take your time and enjoy the peaceful vibes—this is more about soaking up the scenery than chasing speed.
