Cycling day trip from Cota to Bogotá

This cycling route takes you from the charming small town of Cota, just northwest of Bogotá, right into Colombia’s lively capital. Cota, known for its serene countryside and delicious local dairy products, is a great place to start your ride.

The journey covers about 36 km, winding mostly along cycleways (around 75% of the route!), so you can expect a generally bike-friendly experience. The route is mostly flat, with only about 146 meters of ascent, so it’s suitable for most riders as long as you’re comfortable with the distance.

As you approach Bogotá, you’ll pedal into one of South America’s highest capitals—sitting over 2,600 meters above sea level! The route includes a good mix of surfaced roads, though do watch out for some sections where the pavement may be missing or less than perfect.
