A canal-side ride across northern Lombardy, following the Villoresi from Lonate Pozzolo to Fara Gera d’Adda. It’s mostly flat and straightforward, linking long dedicated cycleways with stretches of tracks, paths, and quiet local roads. Surfaces are mixed: plenty of asphalt and other paved bits, with sections of gravel and compact ground. There’s even a tiny flight of steps—nothing major, but handy to know if you’re carrying bags.
This makes a great point-to-point day out connecting the Ticino and the Adda, with classic canal scenery, farmland, and small towns along the way. You can also ride it in chunks—jump on for a relaxed waterside spin wherever it suits.
Best with a hybrid, gravel, or touring bike; skinny-road tires are doable, just take it easy on the rougher parts. Bring water and snacks, and watch for occasional road crossings. Route data highlights: mostly dedicated cycleway, with some track and path, and short bits on local roads. Overall: easy navigation, very little climbing, and lots of steady pedaling by the water.
