This ride starts in Saint-Martin-de-Ré, the charming harbor town that’s the unofficial capital of Île de Ré. You’ll roll out past the iconic Vauban fortifications (a UNESCO site!), and soon pick up a smooth cycleway that whisks you along the island’s scenic north coast.

The path is mostly paved or asphalt—super easy on the wheels—and you’ll enjoy plenty of seaside air, glimpses of oyster beds, and those dreamy Ré salt marshes. Expect an easy, nearly flat ride with barely any climbing—perfect for soaking up the scenery! Much of the route keeps you away from traffic, using dedicated cycle paths and quiet back roads.
