Castelnaudary to Carcassonne

This was a very flat ride, but very little of it was paved. The bulk of the tow-path along the Canal du Midi is unpaved, with some being pretty uneven and rocky.

With so much unpaved rough pathway, this is not for a road bike with narrow tires; it would be torturous. We have road touring bicycles with 700cx35 tires. So, we were OK on this route, despite the route's conditions.

For someone not in a hurry who likes the solitude of the canal, this is a great route.
