Hein on Wine MTB 1

Our route takes us East from Portrush across the country roads of North Antrim before descending into Dunseverick and returning Westwards on the Causeway Coastal Route via the Giant's Causeway, Bushmills and Portballintrae.  There's a sting in the tail as we turn away from the Atlantic Ocean and climb before descending back into the outskirts of Portrush enjoying views over Royal Portrush Golf Club.  This is a lovely route which attempts to keep the rider close to the iconic sights of the area but away from the main road as much as possible (which means there are a couple of climbs - but nothing major).

Our route takes us East from Portrush across the country roads to the outskirts of the lovely village of Bushmills before continuing to Ballycastle.  You can bag one of the famous Glens of Antrim (Glentaise) on the outskirts of Ballycastle.  We return along the famous North Coast taking in Ballintoy Harbour, Portbradden, the Giant's Causeway and Bushmills.

Starting in Portrush we head South on the main road to the University Town of Coleraine before heading West passing the folly of Mussenden Temple all the way to Magilligan Point.  Our return sees us entering Downhill Forest then detouring into the exposed village of Castlerock.  An exposed route with a stiff climb in Downhill Forest to get the heart pumping!

Our route heads South East from Portrush taking in the country lanes to the village of Ballyvogey.  You then turn South West and continue your journey to the Eastern banks of the Lower River Bann where you turn Northwards and follow the road all the way to the University Town of Coleraine with the river never more than a few metres away from your left shoulder.  This is a lovely and peaceful circuit which is relatively flat but long enough to justify a pint of the black stuff, a cake or both.
