Pyrénées Cathares Greenway – Chemin des Filatiers (Mirepoix–Bram)

An easy, mostly traffic-free rail-trail across Cathar country. Starting in the medieval town of Mirepoix, you follow the old Filatiers railway turned greenway, rolling through fields, woods, and past old stations with the Pyrenees on the horizon. Surfaces are mostly smooth (paved and concrete) with a few short on-road links through quiet villages and one brief busier stretch.

The gradients stay mellow and it trends downhill toward Bram, so it’s friendly for families, casual riders, and touring bikes. Expect big-sky vibes, sunflower fields in season, and a relaxed pace through the Pyrénées Cathares.

In Bram you can connect to the Canal du Midi for extra flat kilometers or a picnic by the water. There are cafés and bakeries in towns along the way, but bring water in summer—shade comes and goes. Ride it Mirepoix → Bram for the easiest day, or flip it if you want a touch more climbing.
