Vue d'ensemble

À propos de cette collection

A big, bucket-list ride across La Réunion, circling the island’s iconic “Le Volcan” (Piton de la Fournaise). Expect a long day (around 190 km) with serious elevation, huge views, and that wild mix of coast, highlands, and lava landscapes La Réunion is known for.

It’s mostly paved and rideable on a road or endurance bike, with a few short rough bits. The route leans heavily on regular roads and includes busy sections, so lights, high-vis, and an early start are smart. You’ll still get quieter stretches, some cycleway, and plenty of sweeping descents.

Weather changes fast up high—think heat by the coast and cool, windy conditions near the volcano—so bring layers and enough water. Towns offer frequent food stops, but plan ahead for sparser services around the volcanic plateau. Strong brakes and confident descending skills pay off here.

Highlights: black lava fields, switchbacks with ocean panoramas, sugarcane valleys, and the surreal moonscapes of Piton de la Fournaise. Check for road or park closures if the volcano is active, pick a start that suits your logistics, and enjoy one of the island’s most memorable rides.
