Von Cittadella über Vicenza nach Soave

There was a family, here in Veneto, which like many others sought balance, sobriety, harmony even in the environments in which they lived their daily lives. Of course, almost all the patrician families of the time of the Serenissima lived in this way, but I can speak of mine: the Contarini. Numerous were the Venetian Doges belonging to this family, including myself. Perhaps I could say that, more than any other Venetian aristocratic family, we Contarini have stubbornly tried to live under the banner of Temperance. Well yes, Temperance was one of the twenty virtues that our Republic had during its glorious existence. Temperance was that sweet thing that my family praised by commissioning wonderful residences around the Veneto... Temperance in aesthetics, in art, in taste, in living. It was a lifestyle that today I intend to relive in this journey through the lands between Bassano and Padua, starting from this famous walled city which took the charismatic name of Cittadella.
