This route takes you on a relaxed ride from the bustling city of Taichung all the way down to Chiayi City, covering about 125 kilometers. You’ll start in Taichung, a lively city famous for its arts scene and street food (don’t miss the local night markets). The journey rolls mostly along quiet roads and a few access roads, with only a small stretch on busier streets—perfect for those looking to escape traffic.

There are gentle ups and downs, but nothing too demanding; the total ascent is just under 250 meters and max elevation stays below 100 meters, so expect a fairly manageable ride. Most of the route surfaces are paved or asphalt, though about 10% is proper cycleway—great for stretching your legs.

Arriving in Chiayi City, you’ll find a more laid-back vibe. It’s known as the gateway to Alishan National Scenic Area, and you can treat yourself to classic Chiayi chicken rice as a post-ride reward.
