Excursion à vélo d’une journée de Fengshan à Tainan

This ride takes you from Fongshan District in Kaohsiung all the way up to Tainan City—a smooth 73 km journey that’s perfect if you want to get out of the city and see the best of southern Taiwan’s urban and rural vibes. Fongshan, known for its historic old town and lively markets, is a great place to start. You’ll spend most of your time gliding along quiet roads and dedicated cycleways (no busy roads on this one!), so it’s ideal for a relaxed day in the saddle.

The route is mostly flat, with a gentle ascent and descent that shouldn’t be too challenging, and the highest point is just under 40 meters. Most of the surface is paved or asphalt, so your tires will thank you, but there’s about 20% where the surface is unspecified—just keep an eye out for any unexpected gravel or rough patches.

As you approach Tainan—the oldest city in Taiwan—be sure to grab some local snacks and check out its famous temples and colonial architecture. It’s a fantastic ride for anyone looking to soak up the atmosphere and culture of southwestern Taiwan!
