À vélo de Leanyer à Nightcliff

Cruisy suburban-to-sea spin! Roll out from Leanyer—handy if you’re near Leanyer Recreation Park (free wave pool and waterslides)—and hop on the shared paths toward Trower Road. Glide through the shady Jingili Water Gardens, then follow the Rapid Creek bike path. You’ll often spot kites and egrets along the mangroves here. Cross the footbridge at Rapid Creek and keep heading west until the sea breeze greets you, then join the Nightcliff Foreshore path past the oceanfront pool to the iconic Nightcliff Jetty.

It’s about 10.7 km, mostly flat with just a hint of climbing. Expect mostly paved surfaces and a lot of dedicated cycleway, with a few quiet-road links.

Finish with coffee, gelato, or fish and chips along the foreshore. Nightcliff is one of Darwin’s favourite sunset spots, and the Sunday markets are nearby if you time it right. Pack water and sunscreen, and go easy on the shared paths—there can be walkers, dogs, and the odd scooter.
