À vélo de Schaffhouse à Feuerthalen

This short cycling route takes you from the picturesque Swiss town of Schaffhausen, famous for its charming old town and the nearby Rhine Falls (the largest waterfall in Europe), to the quaint village of Feuerthalen, just across the river in the canton of Zurich. Stretching just under 6 km, this ride is ideal if you want a scenic spin rather than a long workout—though there is a bit of climbing (about 136 meters up), so your legs won’t be bored!

Most of the ride rolls along quiet roads and paths, giving you a chance to enjoy beautiful river views and glimpses of the lush landscapes around the Rhine. About a third of the route is on smooth gravel—perfect for wider tires but still very doable on a standard bike. You’ll pass historic bridges and, if you’re lucky, spot river birds along the way. The destination, Feuerthalen, is a peaceful spot for a rest, with easy access back to Schaffhausen or onwards if you want to keep exploring the region.
