This cycling journey from Villach to Trieste is a fantastic ride, offering both Alpine charm and a finish by the Adriatic Sea! Starting in Villach—a lively Austrian town nestled amid mountain peaks and famous for its thermal spas—you’ll pedal roughly 230 km south, crossing the border into Italy and winding through some seriously scenic landscapes.

The route is mostly on paved surfaces, with a good mix of cycleways and quiet roads, making it perfect for a relaxed touring vibe. You'll climb a total of about 2,700 meters (with the highest point a bit above 840 meters), but with more descent than ascent, so you’re rewarded later in the ride with breezy downhills.
