You’ll roll out mainly on paved paths and quiet access roads, but there’s a bit of gravel, so a hybrid or touring bike is a good choice.

The route is mostly flat with gentle rises, making it friendly even if you’re not a hill seeker. You’ll skirt along the Salzach River for part of the way—catch a glimpse of the Hohensalzburg Fortress before you leave the city behind. The finish in Anif is pretty idyllic: think mountain views and, if you have the time, check out the fairytale-like Anif Castle (well-known from The Sound of Music).
