Excursion à vélo d’une journée de Lienz à Dobbiaco

Here’s a relaxed ride from the charming Austrian town of Lienz to the picturesque Italian village of Toblach (a.k.a. Dobbiaco). Starting in Lienz—famous for its medieval old town and alpine views—you’ll roll out mostly along smooth asphalt and dedicated cycleways, making this route friendly for all types of bikes.

Even though it’s just over 50 kilometers, there’s a bit of a workout waiting for you: over 1,000 meters of climbing as you gradually make your way up through the Puster Valley. Don’t worry—those altitude gains are rewarded with stunning Dolomite scenery and lush forests all the way to Toblach, known for its crossroads between Germanic and Italian culture (and some very good coffee). With almost the entire route on cycleway or quiet tracks, and barely any sections on busy roads, you can just focus on the ride and the view.
