You'll start with some gentle climbing as you leave Oberstdorf, famous for its alpine sports and dreamy mountain views. Don’t forget to glance back at the peaks! Once you crest the max elevation (just over 800 meters), it's mostly a gradual descent toward Kempten, the cultural heart of the Allgäu, rich in Roman history and home to great cafés for a hard-earned rest.
