Königswinter to Bonn Cycling Route

This scenic ride connects the charming riverside town of Königswinter with the lively city of Bonn, covering about 12.4 km—perfect for a relaxed morning or afternoon adventure. Starting in Königswinter, famous for the fairytale Schloss Drachenburg and the legendary Drachenfels hill, you’ll quickly find yourself gliding along well-maintained, mostly asphalt paths that hug the Rhine.

The route rolls gently north, with barely noticeable ups and downs (less than 50 meters ascent), so it’s great for both casual cyclists and families. Most of the way takes you along riverside cycle paths, away from busy roads, with a mix of quiet roads and stretches through peaceful residential areas.

Soon, you’ll reach Bonn, once the capital of West Germany and birthplace of Beethoven, offering plenty of parks, museums, and cozy cafés to explore. With hardly any traffic and a smooth ride all the way, this is a sweet escape sandwiched between history, greenery, and waterfront views. Don’t forget to stop for a photo or two by the Rhine!
