Excursion à vélo d’une journée de Garmisch-Partenkirchen à Ehrwald

Ready for an epic ride from Garmisch-Partenkirchen to Ehrwald? This roughly 25.6 km route takes you right through postcard-perfect Alpine scenery, so expect plenty of “wow” moments along the way!

You’ll start in Garmisch-Partenkirchen, a cozy Bavarian town famous for its winter sports, lovely old houses, and the mighty Zugspitze—Germany’s highest mountain. From here, you’ll pedal mostly on a mix of paved and gravel surfaces, with a nice chunk of the ride along quieter tracks and peaceful paths. The climb is gradual but real, with about 425 meters of ascent, so get ready for a workout (and some awesome views as your reward).

The road swoops through forested stretches and open meadows, following the Loisach River for a bit before crossing into Austria (don’t forget to take a photo at the border!). Eventually, you’ll roll into Ehrwald, a charming Austrian alpine village nestled beneath the dramatic Zugspitze massif.

All in all, it’s a good mix of nature and small-town vibes—just keep an eye out for a few busier road sections, and maybe treat yourself to some Apfelstrudel when you arrive!
