Get ready for a scenic ride through the Harz mountains! Starting in Bad Harzburg, a charming spa town known for its historic castle and gateway to the Harz National Park, you’ll head south toward Braunlage. The route’s about 116 km, so it’s a solid adventure, and with over 1,700 meters of climbing, your legs will definitely get a workout.

Along the way, you’ll cruise mostly on paved or asphalt surfaces (about 60%), with some sections turning into gravel tracks for a bit of that off-the-beaten-path feel. The climbs are rewarded by lush forests, panoramic views, and classic half-timbered villages.

After a day on the road, you’ll roll into Braunlage, the “Heart of the Upper Harz.” Braunlage is famous for winter sports, but it’s a fantastic finish for cyclists too, nestled at nearly 600 meters elevation with plenty of cozy cafés to refuel.
