Set off from the historic lakeside town of Keszthely, known for its stunning Festetics Palace and its relaxed Balaton vibe. This route hugs the scenic north shore of Lake Balaton, mostly on smooth asphalt cycle paths and quiet roads—so it’s a chilled ride great for all levels.

You’ll cruise through vineyards and small villages, with the lake sparkling beside you and the volcanic hills of the Balaton Uplands rising in the distance. The ride isn’t particularly hilly; there are a few gentle ascents totaling about 145 m, but they’re spread out, so you can take them at your own pace.

After about 28 km, you’ll roll into Badacsonytomaj—a cozy town famous for its wine, especially the local Olaszrizling. If you’ve got some time, hike up Badacsony Hill for gorgeous views or just chill at one of the lakeside restaurants. Altogether, it’s a beautiful stretch—one of the best ways to experience the “Hungarian Sea.”
