Get ready for a classic ride through the heart of Central Europe! Starting in Bratislava, Slovakia’s lively capital that sits snugly on the banks of the Danube, this 234 km route takes you southeast all the way to Budapest, Hungary’s grand riverside capital. Expect mostly smooth cruising: about 82% of the way is on good asphalt, and the route is largely cycle-friendly with more than half along designated cycleways.

It’s a gently rolling journey with around 1,200 meters of ascent, but nothing too mountainous—the max elevation tops out at 269 meters. The path carries you past picturesque villages, Danube-side views, and quiet rural landscapes. Some sections venture off the tarmac onto gravel or minor tracks, so wider tires can come in handy.

Both start and finish cities are worth exploring: Bratislava charms with its medieval old town and quirky statues, while Budapest is a jewel of architecture, thermal baths, and Hungarian cuisine. Riding from one capital to another is an experience you won’t forget!
