The path hugs the Drava (Drau) River for much of the route and is part of the famed Drau Cycleway, so the surface is smooth and well-marked—about 98% asphalt and almost entirely on dedicated cycleways or quiet tracks.

Along the 44 km route you’ll clock up a comfortable 420 meters of climbing, but the 923 meters of descent mean you’ll cruise into Austria and the historic town of Lienz without much sweat. Highlights include crisp mountain air, postcard-worthy villages, and plenty of river views. Lienz, your destination, is known for its colorful medieval old town and lively atmosphere—a great spot to reward yourself with some Tyrolean strudel and coffee.
