You’ll roll out from Florence’s historic center, crossing the Arno River, and soon leave the bustle behind for peaceful, winding roads lined with olive groves and vineyards.

Get ready for a solid challenge: there’s plenty of climbing along the way (over 1,500 meters of ascent!) with ups and downs through rolling Chianti hills, but sweeping views make every pedal stroke worth it. Expect a mix of surfaces—while a lot is on quiet paved roads, there’s a fair share of gravel and unpaved stretches to spice things up.

Finishing in San Gimignano, you’ll be greeted by the town’s famous medieval skyline—the “Manhattan of the Middle Ages.” Reward yourself with some gelato and a stroll around this UNESCO World Heritage gem before heading back. Don’t forget your camera, and maybe pack a spare tube for the bumpy bits!
