Excursion à vélo d’une journée de Canazei à Corvara in Badia

A big Dolomite day from Canazei to Corvara. You’ll climb early out of Canazei (Val di Fassa) and wind onto high alpine tracks and paths, topping out around 2,370 m with sweeping views of the Sella Group and Marmolada. It’s about 35.7 km with roughly 2,200 m of ascent and 2,100 m of descent, so pace yourself—there are sustained ramps and some rugged sections.

The surface is mixed: roughly a third paved and a good chunk unpaved with gravel, bits of cobbles, and plenty of doubletrack plus some path sections. Expect mostly quiet roads, but there are short stretches on busier tarmac linking the good stuff. A gravel or MTB setup with low gearing is ideal. Weather changes fast up high—bring layers and enough water/food; rifugi and cafés are a welcome bonus when open.

Canazei is a classic gateway to the Sella and Pordoi passes in the UNESCO-listed Dolomites. Corvara sits in Alta Badia, heart of Ladin culture and home to the Maratona dles Dolomites granfondo—perfect place to roll in for a well-earned espresso.
