Excursion à vélo d’une journée de Portorož à Poreč

This ride takes you from the lively Slovenian coast at Portorož all the way to Poreč, a beautiful Croatian seaside town known for its UNESCO-listed Euphrasian Basilica. Spanning a bit over 62 km, the route is varied and gently rolling, with just enough climbing (around 579 meters) to keep things interesting, but nothing too intense.

You’ll pedal mostly on quiet roads and cycleways (over half the journey!), weaving through sleepy villages, olive groves, and with some fantastic Adriatic views along the way. Expect mostly paved or good asphalt surfaces, with a stretch of gravel here and there (nothing too wild) – just enough for some off-the-beaten-path charm.

After leaving the Portorož promenade behind, you’ll trace the Slovenian-Croatian border before descending through classic Istrian countryside. Save some energy for a relaxed wander in Poreč’s old town, maybe reward yourself with some fresh seafood and local wine by the sea. All in all, it’s a perfect cross-border ride mixing scenic coastlines and quiet Mediterranean backroads!
