Excursion à vélo d’une journée de Kranj à Bohinjska Bistrica

This ride takes you from Kranj, Slovenia's lively "capital of the Slovenian Alps," all the way to the charming Bohinjska Bistrica, nestled at the edge of Triglav National Park. The route is about 62 km and features a solid amount of climbing—you’ll gain over 1,300 meters—so bring your climbing legs (and maybe some extra snacks).

Setting off from Kranj, you’ll wind your way along mostly paved and quiet roads, a real treat for cyclists who prefer a relaxed vibe over busy traffic. The landscape transitions from urban edges into lush valleys, with the Julian Alps gradually looming closer with every pedal stroke.

As you get nearer to Bohinjska Bistrica, famed for its alpine charm and as a gateway to beautiful Lake Bohinj, expect breathtaking mountain views and plenty of photo ops. Given the mix of surfaces (including a smidge of gravel and the occasional unpaved patch), a road or gravel bike is ideal.
