Bikepacking de Novaci à Sebeş

Looking for an epic ride? This route takes you from Novaci, a small gateway town at the southern foot of the Carpathians, all the way to Sebeş in Transylvania. You’ll cover about 165 km and rack up over 6,400 meters of climbing—so it’s definitely not for the faint of heart!

The journey is a real mixed bag: you’ll pedal along a ton of remote forest tracks, some gravel, ground paths, and just a sprinkle of real asphalt. Because more than half the surface is “to be discovered,” a good adventure spirit (and probably a gravel or mountain bike) is a must.

What makes it iconic? You’ll cross the legendary Transalpina road, topping out at over 2,100 meters. Expect wild, sweeping mountain views and a decent chance to spot sheep—maybe even a bear (so keep your snacks close!). Arriving in Sebeş, you’ll roll into a charming old town, famous for its medieval fortress and cobbled streets.
