40k Taster ride

An introduction to the area. Includes a section of the Amance valley but also climbs the plateau. Early in the ride one passes the vestiges of an old mill and the old branch line to Bourbonne. There is a shop in Vernois and a bar in Vitrey. An attractive chateau and garden can be spotted in Ouge.

On the descent from Ouge, take in the view across valley towards the the village of La Ferté high on the opposite side and be thankful you're not going to climb that hill today! Just after crossing the river Amance there is a Cynodrome (greyhound racetrack) on the left just before you take a right turn to pass below La Ferté. The village of Pisseloup has a number of fine buildings and was regularly visited by General De Gaulle who had friends there.
