Caja del Rio - Las Campanas Loop

This route starts and ends at the Santa Fe Depot.  You can park near the depot and ride out on the rail trail.  The route descends to the Caja del Rio ("River Box") plateau to the west of the city, so-named because the Rio Grande cuts through the plateau to create a river-box.  You don't actually get down to the river, since no paved roads descend to it (dirt bikes have a shot of doing it though).  But takes through the plateau and the Cieneguilla Spanish Land Grant.  Cienegulla means small swamp, so-named because the Santa Fe river makes a swampy area here that is alive with flora and fauna all year round.
