Monte Alpe best tour

This is one of the best trail in this area. U can leave your car in Varzi (plently of parking places) so up hill to the Sagliano village. Immediately after the last house you will you will immerse yourself in a forest of chestnut and beech trees which will take you to the Pietragavina village. Around 9th km, have a look at your right: the beautifull Oramala castle will appears among the trees. In Pietragavina you can fill your bottle of fresh water. climb to the Monte Alpe starts from here. It's a demanding climb, especially because it is long (6km) and steep in some places. Atter the top, a fun descending you will reach the paved road to the Monte Penice. It's the only way to climg to the top pf the mountain. This is the highest place of this tour. An hard descending (be careful!) will take you to the Scapparina crossroad. There is a nice and cheap restaurant in here. The rest of the trail for come back to Varzi is a very fun descening.
