Punti salienti

  • Cycle along the Mediterranean west coast from Tel Aviv to Haifa. Detours to the archeological sites of Caesarea are a highlight, afterwards, you can ride through Mount Carmel to Haifa and visit the hanging gardens of Bahai.
  • There is a 40 kilometre long cycling trail around Jerusalem’s old town. A wonderful way to get to know the city better.
  • Mezzadra castle is located on an isolated rock plateau in Israel’s southeast and offers a beautiful view on the Dead Sea. You can bike to the top, hike or just take the cable car.

Suggerimenti

  • Israel’s road network is well-developed. Most streets are asphalted and in very good condition. Almost all streets have a wide hard shoulder which is nicely usable for cyclists.
  • The best time to travel is either spring (March/April) or fall (September/October). The summer months should be avoided, in the mediterranean region, at the Red Sea as well as at the Dead Sea and in the desert, temperatures can reach up to 50°C or more.
  • Jewish shops are closed during the Sabbath. The Jewish day of rest starts on Friday at dusk and ends at the same time on Saturday. Muslim shops are closed on Fridays and Christian shops are closed on Sundays.
